Hank’s on the Water Coming to The Wharf in 2017

Jamie-Leeds-2015-A-e1422016777532The Wharf is ramping up to be a major dining destination in the next couple years. Yesterday, Mike Isabella announced that he's partnering with fellow Top Chef alum Jennifer Carroll to open a French-Mediterranean seafood restaurant amid the Southwest development. And developers have been in talks with a slew of big names to also open spots at The Wharf, as the Washington Business Journal previously reported.

Chef and restaurateur Jamie Leeds tells Y&H that she now officially has plans to open a fourth Hank's Oyster Bar—dubbed Hank's on the Water—in the development.

Leeds says the corner waterfront restaurant, next to a water park, will be the biggest Hank's yet with about 120 seats inside and 60 outside. The seafood menu will be in the same vein as the other Hank's locations. "It might be a little bit more versatile," Leeds says. "It will depend on the market for The Wharf. I'm sure there's going to be a lot of families, a lot of kids, so we'll be very kid-friendly."

Leeds says the restaurant likely won't open until the end of 2017. In the meantime, she has two more spots in the works: Petworth cocktail bar Twisted Horn and Alexandria-based Hank's Pasta Bar are both set to open later this fall.
