Restaurateur and chef Ari Gejdenson of Mindful Restaurant Group has already announced that he'll open three new restaurants in the Hecht Warehouse development in Ivy City, but specifics have been few and far between. A pamphlet from developer Douglas Development reveals some new details about exactly what's to come from the owner of Ghibellina, Sotto, Denson Liquor Bar, Harold Black, and Acqua Al 2.
A Mexican restaurant called La Puerta Verde promises to go "beyond typical nachos and burritos" with dishes from a variety of regions and homemade tortillas. Ari's Diner will serve eggs and coffee from a 16-seat counter, while serving as Mindful Restaurant's first training school. And a "warehouse tavern" called Dock 2 will nod back to Gejdenson's professional soccer days by broadcasting games in the bar and lounge.
A rep for Gejdenson's Mindful Restaurant Group did not have more to add and says specifics may change once construction begins.
In the meantime, here's the text from the Douglas Development "look book:"
Dock 2
Restaurateur Ari Gejdenson, owner of the Mindful Restaurant Group, has opened Ghibellina, Acqua al 2, Harold Black, Sotto and Denson in Washington, DC to critical acclaim. Dock 2 is one of the three concepts going into the Hecht Warehouse project. At this warehouse tavern, soccer fans can pull up a bar stool or lounge on leather couches to catch their pick of soccer games being broadcast from around the world.Ari's Diner
Ari’s Diner will have its American debute [sic] on New York Avenue. Patrons can sit and have a cup of coffee while they watch their eggs sizzle on the griddle at the 16-seat counter. The diner will also serve as the first site of Mindful Restaurants’ first training school.La Puerta Verde
Taking guests beyond typical nachos and burritos, this restaurant will feature authentic Mexican cuisine representing a variety of regions highlighting their native ingredients. Guests can expect to see fresh, handmade tortillas sizzling on the griddle in a lively, effervescent atmosphere.
