B Side and Ted’s Bulletin Open in Mosaic District

In the past year, the Mosaic District development in Fairfax has become something of a District dining doppelganger. D.C.-founded restaurants like Dolcezza, Cava Mezze Grill, Matchbox, Sweetgreen, Taylor Gourmet, and Red Apron Butcher all operate there, along with Gypsy Soul from Rogue 24 chef RJ Cooper.

The latest additions? Another Ted's Bulletin, which opens today, and B Side from Neighborhood Restaurant Group, which opened over the weekend. Read more about the newcomers below and stay tuned for more new restaurants coming to Mosaic District from the owners of DGS Delicatessen and Rappahannock Oyster Bar.

B Side

This 50-seat restaurant and bar adjoining Red Apron is similar to but smaller than meat-centric the Partisan, which connects to the Penn Quarter Red Apron. You'll still find plenty of charcuterie from chef Nate Anda, including salamis, rillettes, pates, and other cured meats. But the rest of the menu is less extensive than the Partisan, with bar snacks and dishes like "rotisi-fried" chicken, pork belly pupusas, and an Italian beef burger. Taco Tuesdays and breakfast for dinner nights are coming soon.

Neighborhood Restaurant Group's trio of booze talent—Beer Director Greg Engert, Wine Director Brent Kroll, and Bar & Spirits Director Jeff Faile—are behind the drinks. The 13-seat bar will serve 12 draft beers plus 200 bottles and cans. Like the Partisan, there will be a wealth of sour beers (nearly 50) as well as a variety of other styles. The 120-wine list focuses on old world and earthy bottles plus meat-friendly lambruscos, which Kroll believes are unfairly maligned. Lastly, the food-friendly cocktail list features 10 drinks named after famous B-side tracks.

The fourth location of the American eatery will be pretty similar to the others with all-day breakfast, boozy shakes, a peanut butter bacon burger, and of course, homemade pop-tarts. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the restaurant also serves entrees including beer-battered cod with tater tots, meatloaf, and buttermilk country fried steak. Look out for daily specials, including Monday pasta nights and TV dinner meals on Thursdays.

The 1930s-inspired decor includes a projection screen playing old cartoons and family shows inside the dining room and another playing them outside. The dining room accommodates 125 diners, while an outdoor patio seats an additional 24.
