You'll have to wait until 2017 for Requin, the French Mediterranean restaurant coming to The Wharf from Top Chef pals Mike Isabella and Jen Carroll. In the meantime, there's Requin, the pop-up, opening today in Fairfax's Mosaic District.
The rotating menu will include small plates like charred and pickled mackerel (see above), beef carpaccio, and smoked quail wings. Larger platters "pour la table" range from a bouillabaisse-style shellfish and seafood roast to a 28 oz. dry-aged ribeye with charred radicchio and shishito pepper. The temporary restaurant will be open for dinner only.
The 40-bottle wine list leans French, while beers skew Belgian. For something stronger, there's absinthe and pastis plus French-inspired cocktails. And for something weaker, there are three mocktails, including a celery and thyme fizz.
The pop-up will operate through the spring, after which Isabella intends to turn the space into Kapnos Kouzina.
