Bill De Blasio Ups Brooklyn Cred, Makes Sweetest Composting Video Ever

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio may have finally taken up residence at Gracie Mansion, but his Brooklyn roots are showing in this promotional video about composting.

Narrated by de Blasio's daughter Chiara, the sweet video -- a HuffPost Green exclusive -- hopes to show New Yorkers how accessible composting methods can be in the city. It features the first family at their longtime Park Slope home, recycling away in bliss as they cook, chow down, and drag a bin of organics to the curb.

The video also offers a rare glimpse into the de Blasio family's much-beloved home. De Blasio, who has previously touted his "obsessive" recycling habits, can be seen eating and composting in the family's sun-drenched kitchen.

Also prominently displayed are the new brown plastic bins the city recently began distributing to encourage composting, part of a pilot program started by former mayor Michael Bloomberg. Gracie Mansion is one of the locations currently included in New York City's organics collecting program, ensuring the de Blasios will be continuing their composting ways (though, perhaps, without this soothing soundtrack).
