On June 28th, Washington DC will be treated to an incomparable wine and music festival. VinoFestDC will bring together wine lovers, chart-topping musicians, art exhibitions, a vast selection of vino—all uniting to give back to two DC born charities – Dreams for Kids DC (DFKDC) and Bike2TheBeach. Union Market’s upstairs and outdoor space will be transformed into a beautiful concert venue, complementing the exquisite showcase of wineries.
VinoFest is the brain child of founders Justin Harrison and Justin Maddox, who founded VinoLovers (a subscription wine delivery service) that caters to each individual’s likes and dislikes. Harrison and Maddox conceptualized VinoFest as a way to bring their wines directly in front of Washingtonians, while immersing in the art, food and music of the District—creating a one of a kind experience. “As two DC entrepeneurs, we saw the need to hold an event that brings together the culture of DC—all the individuals and business that make this city so unique. An event where patrons would learn about their neighbors while partying for good causes,” states VinoFest founder Justin Harrison. “DC is a melting pot of philanthropy, entrepreneurs, tech, art, music, and food; VinoFestDC is the first city festival to bring together aspects from all of these different markets into one explosive event.”—Harrison adds.
One of the most intriguing parts of VinoFest is its dedication to small business and start-ups—from the wineries, restaurants, and charities to the founders themselves–celebrating the entrepreneurship of local Washingtonians. VinoFest founders Justin Harrison and Justin Maddox agree that VinoFestDC is their effort “to promote not only the Vinolovers brand, but also leverage [their] work as startup entrepreneurs, and create a memorable DC experience!” Both Harrison and Maddox are native Washingtonians; therefore, VinoFest is specially curated to include fellow natives. Each guest with be treated to complementary glass of sparkling wine in addition to a four-hour wine tasting. Confirmed music acts include Eric Hilton of Thievery Corporation, Jesse Boykins III, See-I, Jetty, DJ Spinser Tracy, and more! Maddox states, “We are excited to bring together people from all over the city, of all different backgrounds. Music and wine are universal languages that break down barriers—and this is what VinoFest DC is all about.”
