Goodies Food Truck Opens Frozen Custard and Soda Bar in National Harbor

Goodies' 1952 vintage van slinging frozen custard and other old-fashioned treats now has a brick-and-mortar counterpart in National Harbor. Founder Brandon Byrd opened his new frozen custard and soda bar over the weekend, just in time for the first day of summer.

The menu is an expanded version of what the Goodies truck serves, with an array sundaes, shakes, and concretes. There are also 10 "soda pops" on tap, including six staples and four seasonal options, from Milwaukee micro-brewery Sprecher. Any of the sodas can be used to make a float with the frozen custard, which is made fresh each day. (And yes, that means root beer floats.) Also don't miss the doughnut ice cream sandwich made with a red velvet doughnut stuffed with frozen custard and a Hershey's dark chocolate drizzle. Other treats will range from bread pudding to peach cobbler.

The stand is mostly grab-and-go, but has a couple stools in front next to its Route 66 gas pump. You can find it at 150 American Way #A in National Harbor, across from the Walrus Oyster & Ale House and catty-corner to Rosa Mexicana.
