Next Up at EatsPlace: BevEggs Pork & Grits

Bacon-Procuitto-Ecofriendly-EatsPlace

EcoFriendly Foods founder Bev Eggleston, whose humanely raised meats you can find at local farmers markets, is the next chef in residence at Park View "pop-uppery" EatsPlace. Beginning tonight at 5:30 p.m., BevEggs Pork & Grits will serve an assortment of cured and smoked meats alongside a customizable grits bar.

Bowls with Anson Mill grits or Carolina gold rice ($15) come with smoked pulled pork or a featured meat, a choice of veggies like braised red cabbage and roasted turnips, and toppings including pickled ramps, Virginia peanuts, and vidalia onion sour cream. A fried or poached egg and sharp cheddar cheese are extra. All the meats come from a regional network of farmers who raise eco-friendly livestock. A vegetarian bowl is also available.

For dessert, the pop-up will offer a cookie plate, a Dolcezza sundae, and other sweets.

BevEggs Pork & Grits will serve dinner Thursdays through Saturdays and brunch on weekends (although only Sunday this weekend).  The pop-up ends after brunch on Feb. 22.
