One Eight Distilling Releases Its Ivy City Gin Today

ivy_city_ginGreen Hat Gin has some new competition in D.C.-made gin. One Eight Distilling releases its Ivy City Gin today, the Ivy City distiller's third signature product, following its District Made Vodka and Rock Creek White Whiskey.

The dry gin is distilled with locally sourced rye, malted rye, and corn and has prominent notes of juniper and spicebush, among other botanicals.

One Eight co-founders Alexander "Sandy" Wood and Alex Laufer are hosting a release party tonight at the distillery from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will include live music and cocktails from guest bartenders David Fritzler and Daniel McCombie of Tryst Restaurant Group. The $50 tickets, available for purchase here, also include a signed bottle of gin. The distillery will continue to sell bottles ($37) and cocktails during its tour and tasting hours Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. One dollar from every bottle sold this year will go toward Habitat for Humanity projects in Ivy City.

If you can't make it out to the distillery, the gin is also available at D.C. retailers beginning today. It will be distributed to bars and restaurants later this month.
