Walmart Shopper Kills Scorpion Who Was Just Chillin’ In His Bananas (UPDATED)

June 25, 2014 0

Always low prices, always AAAAAHHH!!!!!

A Pennsylvania man told KDKA he was attacked by a scorpion while shopping for bananas at a Walmart in Scott Township.

The man, whose name has not been released, reached into a box of bananas at around 2 p.m. on June 18 and felt something pinch him.

“I yanked my arm out and flung it, and this scorpion flopped to the ground,” he told the station. “I was standing there in disbelief looking and there was another shopper there and people started to converge, and sure enough it was a scorpion.

The shopper was not seriously injured, but the scorpion was killed instantly when the man threw a lid on top of it. R.I.P., little scorp.

Walmart spokeswoman Betsy Harden sent HuffPost the following statement about the incident:

We’re committed to providing our customers with safe, quality food products. As soon as we were made aware of this situation, we alerted our food safety team, our suppliers, and our third party pest control provider, who inspected the product and the store and found no other issues.

“Scorpion-filled bananas” is just one more item to add to the list of things to watch out for at Walmart. Other items on that list include rattlesnakes in the gardening section, public masturbators, toe-suckers, knife-filled cakes and semen-throwers.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this article incorrectly suggested that the incident happened Wednesday, June 25. It occurred on Wednesday, June 18.
