Here comes another protein rich fishy ride! Get set for a pie that is beyond the imagination. It is ‘the’ pie that can be eaten guilt free.
Ingredients:
- 700g potatoes, peeled and diced
- 4 fillets of haddock (or any kind of white fish or salmon)
- 425ml 1% fat milk
- 25g low-fat spread
- 25g flour
- 25g reduced-fat strong hard cheese
- 320g broccoli (to serve)
Method to prepare:
Pre heat the oven to 200oC. Start with the potatoes. Boil them for about 10- 15 minutes, until they are soft. Once boiled, drain the water and peel of the potato skin. Now mash them with a little milk. To make the sauce, take a pan. Heat it well. Add the milk along with the low fat spread and flour. Let it warm on a medium flame. Keep on stirring it until you get gently bubbles. Once the bubbles gel along, the mixture starts to thicken. Now take the ovenproof dish. Place the fish and pour over this milk made sauce on top of the fish. Let the sauce do its course. As the milky thick sauce settles over the fish, crown it with the milk and potato mashed batter. Now shredder some hard cheese on the sauce filled fish. Set it to bake in the oven for 30 minutes, until it is visibly golden brown. Then, get it out and place it in a platter of broccoli.
It serves 4 and approximately it will take 60 minutes of your time. And do make sure that the pie is steaming hot all the way through before serving it up.
Tip Alert: just to make the pie rich in carbs and energy, broccoli is used. You can choose whatever vegetable you want. Also you can try various fish, like salmon.
