Up Next at EatPlace “Pop-Uppery”: Delilah From Capital Taste

Mackenzie Kitburi, the founder of Capital Taste supper club, is the next chef to rotate through the kitchen of Park View "pop-uppery" EatsPlace. A former line cook with stints at Fiola, Range, and Evening Star Cafe, Kitburi has hosted pop-ups over the past year in private homes, on farms, and at Mess Hall. He hopes his four-week stint at EatsPlace, beginning Thursday, will help set him on the path to eventually opening his own restaurant.

Kitburi's pop-up is called Delilah, named after his 7-year-old daughter. "She's a big reason that I started cooking in the first place," he says.

The menu will be modern American, but there are also some Thai influences given that Kitburi is half-Thai. "That's definitely a big part of who I am, although I've never really cooked Thai professionally... I usually just ate it growing up," he says. A spicy mushroom salad comes with lychee, Chinese sausage, and peanut "soil," while butternut squash ravioli are accompanied by boquerones and young coconut. Starters range from $7 to $12, and no entree is more than $24. Desserts range from a peanut butter and chocolate napoleon with caramel and peanuts to a peach upside down cake with lemon-thyme ice cream.

Delilah will operate out of EatsPlace every Thursday through Saturday from 5:30 to 10 p.m. this Thursday through April 4.  Take a gander at the menu below.
