Ingredients: (for the patties)

  • 1/3 cup cooked broken wheat
  • 2 tablespoon finely chopped carrots
  • 2 tablespoon finely chopped french beans
  • 2 tablespoon boiled sweet corn kernels
  • 2 medium sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 slice of whole wheat bread
  • 1/2 teaspoon finely chopped green chillies
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper  powder
  • 1 tablespoon chopped coriander
  • 1 teaspoon oil for cooking
  • salt to taste
  • 6 brown bread buns
  • 2 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  • 12 lettuce leaves
  • 2 sliced onions
  • 2 sliced green cucumbers
  • 2 sliced tomatoes
  • 6 cheese slices

Method to prepare:

Take a bowl. Add the cooked broken wheat with chopped carrots, chopped French beans, boiled sweet corn, mashed potatoes with a slice of whole wheat bread, along with chopped green chillies, some spraying of black pepper with a spoonful of coriander. Mix all contents together well. Once, the jumble is ready, take a handful lump, roll it in round balls and then squeeze it in circular motion on your palm. This will help you give nice round shape to your patty. Now take a pan. Heat it enough. Pour in some oil to the pan. Let it heat well. Once the oil is hot enough, throw in the round shaped patties. Once you leave the patties in the pan, take a teaspoon on oil and leave it on the surrounding area of the patty, just in a round circular motion. Once you get the feeling that the bottom is well fried, turn it over with a spatula and do the same with the next side. See to it that both the sides of the patty are crisp and brown.

Now cut the bun bread into 2 halves horizontally. Just toast the sides of the bun bread very lightly on a very low flame. You could microwave the buns. On the inner half of both the buns, spread in some tomato ketchup. Then place in 2 lettuce leaves. Slide in some sliced onions, cucumber slices, tomato cuts and just a dust of salt to taste. Kids love cheese. So let them have some. Glide in a cheese slice. Finally place in the patty and slightly press it with another tomato ketchup bun. Do not squeeze the 2 buns too much, this may lead to out falling of the stuffing. Just gently press them together. There you go! Your healthy burger is all set to be eaten. Eat it with ketchup.

This recipe serves 6 people. Also it is very less time consuming. You just need some 25 minutes. So the next time when you have a kid’s birthday party try your veggie healthy burger recipe.
